 Sketches

Sketches - These still-frame renders were derived from a new character design. The differences between these 2 3D models are mainly in the area of the eyes - changes to the size of the iris and modification of the eyelids to conceal tiny part of the sclera. Little nuances make a lot of difference in the human face.

This is a 'sketched' render, please excuse the hair, they are not properly done. The animation will be posted later.

 Presidential Haircut

Presidential Haircut - A dynamic-hair test that I did a week ago, it looks interesting so I am putting it here on my portfolio.

The physics-based hair rendering was applied on my Obama 3d model, I think it looks good enough for a shampoo commercial.

 Scenes Animated 2

Another Update - A clip of the portrait animated with dance movement.

The last scene will not be posted here.

 Scenes Animated

Update: This is a video sample of the rendered CG human. The footage is a test of direct and indirect lighting.

 Scenes

Scenes - A progress from Close-ups 2, it's a research on creating the most photorealistic CG humans. This portrait study uses different photo backdrops with the 3d model composited onto it. The 3d model in this portrait is my best specimen - I shall named her "SimOne". (In case you don't get the joke, watch the movie "Simone" - it is hilarious)

There are many advantages of CG humans - they don't grow old or fat, they don't sleep or die and they are more cost-effective. They are avatars that can be control using motion-captured technology. It is a director's dream to have full control over the performance - like a conductor directing the orchestral, fine-tuning every nuances of the performance.

This is a post-production compositing presentation of 3d modeling/animations work that I did in the last 4 years.

Virtual Humans is a showcase of photorealistic rendered humans.

This is the first time I use youTube for hosting the video clip - this video is too big and cost too much bandwidth for local hosting. youTube has encoded the video in low bitrate which resulted in a washed-out look. The original source looks a lot better.

 New Face

New Face - A new celebrity model, yet to be completed - Can you guess who this is?

This 3d model is a WIP, I don't have much time to work on it at the moment. Currently living in a damn hostel with noisy people, I will continue the work after moving out. A facial animation demo of this model will be posted later.

Artificial Intelligence

Warning: There are so many dogs here in Perth. While imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, it can be very annoying - I don't know whether to look down or feel sorry for them. (The dogs have followed me to Fremantle.)

Also, some losers from Argentina were trying to pass off my website as their own. I live in Perth Australia and has no business dealing with anyone from South America.

My clients contact me directly through email or phone, do not pay for any product or services relating to this website unless you have contacted me. I work alone - this is not a company, it is my portfolio. -- Christopher Yi-Chieh Quek
